To me, “outstanding” means persistent dedication to community service. I have always been drawn to problem-solving, which has led me to take part in a wide variety of Olympiads: obtaining Silver at the China Girls’ Math Olympiad, Champion of the Hong Kong Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics, and Global Gold at the British Physics Olympiad. In July 2025, I even had the privilege of captaining the inaugural Hong Kong team to the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics, clinching the top Bronze medal.
More importantly, I relish in solving real-world problems for the good of the community. I have worked on multiple Mathematical Modeling projects, such as sustainable land-use planning and mitigating pet abandonment. These math models were fielded as Hong Kong’s entries to the International Math Modeling Competition for two consecutive years. They aim to target issues at their root causes by providing a comprehensive problem-solving framework. More recently, I had the opportunity to job-shadow under the Startup Ecosystem and Development Department at the HKSTP, an experience that gave me insights into contributing to our city’s developing IT hub via entrepreneurship.
Training for Olympiads has made me realize the importance of accessibility to education in enhancing one’s skillsets, and inspired me to organize an AI service project for underprivileged children. By teaching them the mechanisms behind AI and providing them with a hands-on tutorial on building a chatbot, I hoped to foster their understanding of this tool that is so prevalent in daily life. I even took on the role as student-teacher of programming courses, coaching over 60 peers.
As the Head Director of the school Metaverse project, I oversaw a team of schoolmates in building and running a virtual Christmas market with sales stalls and game booths. The Metaverse turned out to be an impactful extension of the school’s annual charity bazaar, which I also helped organize as Head Girl. With over 70 booths, virtual and real, the fundraising event not only helped NGOs but also united the school community with alumni abroad.
I am truly honored to be awarded the HKOSA, and would like to express my sincere gratitude towards DGS, especially my headmistress Mrs. Lau for her constant guidance, and the vast opportunities that allow us to discover our talents while embracing the motto of ‘Daily Giving Service’. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my family, teachers and friends for their unconditional support on my journey.
