At first, I was not very confident in myself. Would my talents and passions be recognized? But later I realized that as long as I bravely showcased my abilities and made progress, I could also be appreciated.

The most memorable experience was the Ideapop competition. Our proposal was to create Live action role-playing game (LARPS) set in a museum based on real historical themes. In the beginning, I was worried—would promoting history be accepted by the public? Was our proposal thorough enough? Surprisingly, we received recognition from many people, including mentors and judges. It turned out that our unique and beautiful perspective on the world was valuable. We could use our passion for the humanities and history to make an impact. Hearing someone say, “I admire you all. I’ve been troubled about how to educate the next generation about history while making it interesting and educational. But you did it,” was a touching moment for me. I have always believed that passion and interest should not be exclusive; they should bring happiness to more people. Similarly, in other activities, such as the essay competition, some of our creative ideas became viable topics for essays. The key was how to refine these ideas to make them contributions to society.

In my growth, my biggest takeaway has been how to affirm myself and strive for my passions while giving back to society. Perhaps the greatest challenge in life is how we perceive ourselves. What does it mean to be good? Wealthy? Mainstream? No obstacles in life? For me, as long as I can find something worth chasing and use it to bring the same happiness to others, I feel my life is worthy. I love history and culture; though I may seem insignificant in the grand river of knowledge through the ages, if I can use my knowledge to promote these subjects and make the world a better place—making more cultures known—even if just a little, that would be enough.

I am an ordinary person, but I believe that the brilliant history and civilization of humanity are built by ordinary individuals who ignite their own flames of life to create a dazzling galaxy. I, too, am willing to shine and contribute to the best of my ability.
