There are many reasons why individuals may be seen as ‘outstanding’, but the most significant reason to me is curiosity. My intrinsic curiosity drives my explorations and learning towards sustainable energy, allowing me to join this amazing community.

As I delve deeper into understanding the world around us, I have found that energy is crucial to sustaining human life. The harvesting and storage of energy fundamentally drives everything in the world, with its relevance compounded by the climate clock ticking faster than ever. Yet, this concept was often overlooked in my early education, motivating me to learn more about energy systems. From taking online lectures to engaging in research experiences at laboratories where I built batteries from scratch, I have been fortunate to undertake various projects that have broadened my perspective. This knowledge has also inspired me to creatively visualise the potential of these technologies. These innovative ideas allowed me to pitch my ideas on various occasions, including as a UNITAR Asia-Pacific youth ambassador.

While learning about the principles behind electricity generation in Science back in year 9, I simultaneously learned that not all regions have access to secure energy supplies in Geography. This led to my realisation that contributions made by technological developments have to be complemented by well-executed socioeconomic policies, where solutions to problems are interdisciplinary. Therefore, while having recognized early on that STEM subjects appealed to me the most, I have consistently kept an open mind and embraced the opportunity to explore a range of other disciplines.

From co-founding my school’s first-ever MUN conference, captaining my school’s debate team, to competing in various Economics competitions, engaging in endeavours of various other disciplines allowed me to participate in some of the most extraordinary challenges. These diverse experiences have not only equipped me with invaluable skills but also enabled me to form meaningful bonds with talented individuals, fostering some of my closest friendships.

At the end of the day, we hold the brushes to paint the colours of our lives. Being truly outstanding is not about confining ourselves to a narrow definition of success, but rather about embracing uncertainty and living life to the fullest. With my wide ambitions, fueled passion, and courage to explore, I discover more about myself and the world every day. As I continue to grow, I strive to create a better world- a world where clean, sustainable energy is accessible to all.
